Question: What is GS copy Pro?
GSCopyPro is a single command-line tool (CLI) that can copy, replicate and move files from one folder to another. This folder can be on the same machine/ server or another server elsewhere. What makes GSCopyPro stand out from other competitors is the fact it works on 32-bit as well as 64-bit systems and has no restrictions. It can easily be scheduled to run as a scheduled task and fully automated. GSCopyPro also comes with an open file agent which can copy files that are locked/ opened by other processes.

Can you copy open and locked files from the command prompt?
Yes, GSCopyPro can copy open and locked files. We rely on MS Windows VSS to copy the open files, if VSS can do it, then we most certainly can. The chances are 98% of the open and locked files can be copied. Only very small file extensions we cannot copy but this list is shrinking as more and more vendors are removing that restriction on their files (explicit access). With that said, the locked files must be on the same machine that GSCopyPro is running on.

Does GSCopyPro support long path name?
No, GSCopyPro does not support long path name. If you need long path name support then look at GS RichCopy 360 Standard or Enterprise.

I like GSCopyPro but I do not have much of Command line experience (DOS). Is it easy to use?
That is a good question and we get it all the time. We give so many details in the admin guide and in the help menu Type GScopypro /? and it will display the different ways to use it with examples. However, we also provide you with a windows GUI version where you can basically check the different options you want to use in through the windows interface and then either click Run to run the job or have it generate a batch file that contains all the "commands" you selected and you can save that file so you can run it at a later time.
