Does GS RichCopy 360 Enterprise\Standard work on Windows Fail Over Clustering?
The short answer is yes. Many clients load GS RichCopy 360 Enterprise to replicate or copy data from or to a windows fail over cluster. This does not mean it run as a clustered resource but certainly can be loaded on windows fail over cluster with no issues. It is part of our testing as well.
Can the license be installed on windows server or workstation and is there a price difference?
GS RichCopy 360 Enterprise and Standard can be installed on windows server and workstation operating systems with no issues. Once they are installed on a windows server OS, they detect the OS and optimize themselves to work on that server OS (Windows 2012R2 to Windows 2003). Of course the same when they are installed on a Microsoft Windows workstation OS (Windows 10 to Windows XP). We do NOT charge extra if the operating system is a server or not.
We have 8TB with 800,000 files and folders. Can GS RichCopy 360 Enterprise handle this much data?
Most certainly it can. We have clients copying more than 40 million files and folders with more than 1PB (1000TB) with no issues. GS RihcCopy Enterprise and Standard are really enterprise grade. They will take whatever you throw at them.
We have windows servers deployed in AWS (Amazon cloud) and would like to copy data back to our data center nightly for back up. We do not have VPN connection. Can GS RichCopy 360 Enterprise do it?
Yes. GS RichCopy 360 Enterprise offers TCP copy which is an option to copy data across a single TCP port. The transmission can be easily encrypted with a single check box in the job configuration screen. The encryption offered is AES 128 and AES 256 which are pretty much the best in the market. And yes, we have customers already copy data from AWS to their data center and the other way around. We also have customers that copy to Microsoft Azure and RackSpace clouds as well. As long as they are two windows machines, they can copy regardless of which cloud (in case virtual) or physical. It can be easily done.
We are a non-profit organization, do you have any special pricing for us?
Yes, we do offer special pricing for non-profit organizations. Contact sales AT gurusquad DOT com and inquire. Pricing discounts change all the time and varies depending on volume and running specials.
How is enterprise version is better than standard version in terms of basic functionality?
The enterprise version offers many features that are not included in the standard version such as RTA (remote transfer agent) which is to copy data over a single TCP port. It also is well suited for copying data acroess WANs, VPN tunnels and the internet. Let alone byte level replication, real-time copying...etc. Visit GS RichCopy 360 Enterprise Features for more details.
We currently have GS RichCopy 360 Standard and would like to upgrade to the enterprise version. Do we have to recreate all the jobs? What is involved?
The upgrade process is very easy. Just run the enterprise installer package and it wil take care of everything. You can backup the database (stored in a single file) which stores everything (refer to the admin guide).
We have an older build of GS RichCopy 360 Standard and noticed there is a newer build out on your website. What is the best way to update our current version?
You can simply download the latest package and install it over the existing one. We do recommend that you remove the existing version (uninstall from Programs and Features) then install the new one. All your jobs and settings will be retained as they are stored in the database.
Does your software require a restart up on install\ or uninstall?
No. Our software does not require a restart. We do require that you have .Net framework 4.0 to be installed which comes included in the later versions of MS windows.
We have a few mission critical servers that we need to replicate data from. We are carefull on what we load on these servers. Can you assure us you will not corrupt our registry?
That is a good quesiton. Given many of our clients load our software on mission critical servers and production servers, we have made GS RichCopy 360 Standard and Enterprise to be very light in terms of installation, footprint, and consumption of resources. We do not write anything to the registry at all. With that said, MS may put a few registry keys for us but nothing is pushed by GuruSquad for sure.
We understand that GS RichCopy 360 Enterprise requires a license per installation. What is the RTA licensing requirements as we plan to have several destinations?
GuruSquad does not require any licenses for RTA (Remote Transfer Agent). We just require the client license for GS RichCopy 360 Enteprise and you can have unlimited installations of the RTA. We do not think it is fair to charge our clients twice to get one data job going.
We see that GS RichCopy 360 Standard and Enterprise use a small database. How is that data protected and is saving our job configuration settings in clear text?
Security plays an important role in our products. All data in the database is stored securly using multiple layers with full encryption. Furthermore, we do not store the service account password in the database as another measure of security.
We plan to run multiple jobs every 10 minutes. This of course gets logged in history and over time it could slow the application. Do we need to delete the database and start fresh every 6 months?
At GuruSquad, when we deliver a solution, we deliver it complete. GS RichCopy 360 Standard and Enterprise have their own internal maintenance tasks that they run which would purge records beyond 500 by default. However, this setting can also be changed to something greater if desired.
We have tried the software and it works great. However, we are looking at deploying it to all of our workstations and servers. Do you offer any volume or site licensing?
Most certainly. We do offer special pricing tiers as well as volume, reseller, site, partner licensing programs. Contact our sales professional to discuss the different options. You can email them at Sales AT Gurusquad DOT com.
We are an MSP and looking to use GS RichCopy 360 Enterprise to do all of our server migrations (Data replication). Do you offer us any special pricing?
Most certainly. We do have special pricing tiers as well as volume, reseller, site, partner licensing programs. Contact our sales professional to discuss the different options. You can email them at Sales AT Gurusquad DOT com.
Microsoft stopped supporting MS Windows 2003. Can we still use your software to migrate data from Windows 2003 to Windows 2012 R2?
Of course you can. While MS may have stopped supporting windows 2003, we will still support our products running on them. As you can imagine, our sales have spiked hard because of Windows file server migration from windows 2003 to 2012R2 and 2008 R2.
We have a few users that work from home, road warriors, and some VIPs that we wish to backup their laptops across the internet. Can GS RichCopy 360 Enterprise do it and what is required?
Yes it can. GS RichCopy 360 Enterprise offers the TCP copy method which enabled you to copy across a single TCP port. This connection can be easily encrypted as well with a simple check box using AES 128 and AES 256. All you need is to load an RTA (Remote Transfer Server) in your data center and have all your machines send their data to the RTA server. The software runs as a service so you basically set it up once and it takes care of itself.
The software is very affordable yet it is enterprise grade. Is there a catch?
Thank you for your question. It is honestly a very common question that we receive all the time. Yes, GS RichCopy 360 Standard is an enterprise grade for sure. It can handle copying millions of files at the highest throughput it can get with no issues. We have tweaked it, optimized it and given it the best we could to make it an enterprise class. We actually have a lot of fortune 500 customers using it as a data replication tool, server migration, and as an enterprise backup software. The reason it is offered at a very reasonable price is because we want our solutions as part of our mission to be accessible to all businesses; small, medium, large, and enterprise. We can simply charge $1000 per license and more just like our competitors do but this would go against our mission. Please feel free to take a look at our featured customer list to see just a few of who some of our biggest customers are.
Can you support long path name? If yes, is there anything special we need to do to get it to work?
Yes, out of the box, GS RichCopy 360 Standard automatically supports long path name. There is nothing you need to do special to get it to work. Once it detects long path name, it will do what it needs under the hood.
Can you work on windows VMs such as Hyper-V and VMware?
Yes we can. Our only requirement is that the machine we are installed on is a Microsoft windows machine that supports .Net framework 4. Whether the windows machine is a VM or a physical machine is irrelevant to us. You can say we are hardware agnostic.
GSCopyPro is a single command-line tool (CLI) that can copy, replicate and move files from one folder to another. This folder can be on the same machine/ server or another server elsewhere. What makes GSCopyPro stand out from other competitors is the fact it works on 32-bit as well as 64-bit systems and has no restrictions. It can easily be scheduled to run as a scheduled task and fully automated. GSCopyPro also comes with an open file agent which can copy files that are locked/ opened by other processes.
Can you copy open and locked files from command prompt?
Yes GSCopyPro can copy open and locked files. We rely on MS Windows VSS to copy the open files, if VSS can do it, then we most certainly can. The chances are 98% of the open and locked files can be copied. Only very small file extensions we cannot copy but this list is shrinking as more and more vendors are removing that restirction on their files (explicit access). With that said, the locked files must be on the same machine that GSCopyPro is running on.
Does GSCopyPro support long path name?
No, GSCopyPro does not support long path name. If you need long path name support then look at GS RichCopy 360 Standard or Enterprise.
I like GSCopyPro but I do not have much of Command line experience (DOS). Is it easy to use?
That is a good quesiton and we get it all the time. We give so many details in the admin guide and in the help menu Type GScopypro /? and it will display the different ways to use it with examples. However, we also provide you with a windows GUI version where you can basically check the different options you want to use in through the windows interface and then either click Run to run the job or have it generate a batch file that contains all the "commands" you selected and you can save that file so you can run it at a later time.
